Diversity in experience and culture and viewpoint are, in my opinion, the best way to make a solid decision or come up with a brilliant idea in any field.

I've written historical research as well as social opinion and commentary. But the most effort I exert is continuing to struggle along writing an historical fantasy. I'll get through it one of these days.
